About this calculator

GPA is credit-weighted, not an average of letter grades. This calculator multiplies each course’s grade points by credits, sums, and divides by credit total so a 2-credit seminar cannot outvote a 4-credit lab.

Tribhuvan, KU, and US 4.0 scales differ. Set the scale the transcript uses. Retrieving official GPA from a registrar always wins over this page.

Frequently Asked Questions

Credit-weighted GPA = Σ(credits × grade points) / Σ(credits). 4.0 letter map: A+/A=4.0, A−=3.7, B+=3.3 … D−=0.7, F=0. You may type grade_points instead of a letter.
In this table both are 4.0 (common US 4.0 scale). Some campuses give 4.3 for A+ — use numeric grade_points if yours does.
This GPA tool is 0–4 points per course. For 10-point semesters, use CGPA with scale 10.
If it has zero grade points and credits that should not enter GPA, omit it. Policy varies by registrar.
