About this calculator

Brick orders fail two ways: a shortfall that stops the crew, or pallets that freeze cash. This calculator estimates count from net wall area (after openings), brick size, mortar joint thickness, and a wastage percent you choose for cuts and breakage.

In Nepal, modular and traditional brick sizes both appear on site. Measure the brick you will actually buy, including frogs. Door and window openings must be subtracted or you will over-order by a room. Wastage of 5% on a straight garden wall is not 12% on a cut-heavy façade.

Pair with the cement/sand plaster tools if the wall is rendered. This is not structural design and not a union labour estimate.

Frequently Asked Questions

Wall volume (L × H × thickness, metres) is divided by the volume of one brick plus mortar on three faces: (L+joint) × (W+joint) × (H+joint) in metres. Count is then increased by the wastage percent and rounded up. Defaults: 190×90×90 mm brick, 10 mm joint, 5% waste, 0.23 m (9-inch) wall.
The engine uses the rectangular wall you type. Deduct openings yourself or the order will be high. Net masonry volume is what the crew lays.
Straight walls often 5–8% (the default is 5%). Heavy cutting, arches or first-time crews may need 10–15%. Ask the mason; do not double-count frog volume as extra waste unless your engineer says so.
It is the modular default in the form. Measure the brick you will buy (traditional sizes differ). Enter millimetres.
Mortar volume = wall volume − (brick count without waste × solid brick volume). It is leftover matrix, not a 1:6 mix bag count — use the cement/sand tools for mix bags.

All wall fields are metres; brick fields millimetres. Mixing feet into length is the usual disaster.
The calculator uses the rectangular outer size. Frogs are partly absorbed in mortar volume; severe cavities need an engineer’s factor.
Set thickness to ~0.115 m vs ~0.23 m (and matching brick orientation). Wrong thickness scales the whole order.
Treat it as a planning quantity. Breakage in transit and bond pattern still move the last pallet.
