About this calculator

Nepal government, banks, and schools hop between AD and Bikram Sambat. This converter handles both directions in the supported range (AD 1944–2033 / BS 2000–2089 as implemented). Use it for a passport form that wants BS, or a hospital sticker printed in AD.

BS months are not Gregorian months with Nepali names. “1st of a Nepali month” is not 1 January. Always confirm the converted civil date for court or land filings with an official almanac if the day sits near a month boundary.

This is a date translation, not an age calculator and not a Dashain public-holiday list.

Frequently Asked Questions

Bikram Sambat. Months are Baishakh–Chaitra (बैशाख–चैत), not renamed Gregorian months. 1 Baishakh is not 1 January.
AD 1944-01-01 to 2033-04-13 / BS 2000–2089, as implemented via the NepaliCalendar mapping. Outside that range the handler rejects the date.
Choose direction. AD requires a Gregorian date; BS uses the Nepali date picker (default example in schema is a BS date). Mixing fields in the wrong direction errors.
It is a widely used mapping. For litigation, malpot or passport, cross-check an official almanac near month boundaries.
No. Use the age calculator for completed years/months/days. This only translates the civil date.
Derived from the conversion table’s weekday index (Sunday–Saturday).
Encoded in the calendar service, not a simple +56 years offset. Never add 56 to the AD year.
This is not a festival calendar. Convert a known AD/BS date; it will not list public holidays.
Yes (e.g. 2083-04-07). Month 04 is Shrawan in the engine’s month list, not April.
