How it's calculated
Annual taxable income = monthly × 12 (or the annual amount you enter). Tax is summed slab-by-slab: FY 2083/84 widths 10 lakh @ 1% SST, 5 lakh @ 10%, 10 lakh @ 20%, 15 lakh @ 27%, remainder @ 29%. SSF contributors may skip the 1% SST on the first 10 lakh.

About this calculator
This calculator estimates Nepal individual income tax under the progressive bands used for FY 2083/84: 1% Social Security Tax on the first NPR 10 lakh, then 10%, 20%, 27% and 29% on successive slices. Enter monthly or annual taxable income (after the deductions your payroll actually applies), then optionally mark yourself as an SSF / approved retirement-fund contributor so the first-band 1% SST can be waived the way many employers do it.
A common mistake is typing gross salary and treating the result as your IRD assessment. Allowances, CIT, insurance, and couple-filing rules change taxable income. Another is mixing calendar years with the Nepali fiscal year that starts in Shrawan. Use this page to check a slab-wise NPR breakdown before you compare a job offer or a raise — then confirm against the current Finance Act, IRD notices, and your employer’s payroll memo.
Worked idea: NPR 50,000 monthly is NPR 600,000 annual. That sits inside the first NPR 10 lakh band, so tax is driven by the 1% SST (or zero in that band if SSF waiver applies), not by the 20%+ rates that only apply much higher up. For richer Nepal options, pair this tool with salary-tax if you need a generic educational table.
Source of record: Inland Revenue Department practice and the Finance Act slabs encoded in the calculator handler. Always re-run after a budget speech. This is educational, not a filed return.
