How it's calculated

Estimate follows the wage × service × factor relationship implemented in the handler. Always overlay current statutory eligibility.

About this calculator

Gratuity conversations at resignation in Nepal usually start from wage × service years × a statutory factor. This calculator applies the pattern in the handler so HR and staff argue about inputs (which wage? unbroken service?) instead of mental math.

Eligibility, caps, and contribution-to-SSF offsets change with labour law. Confirm against the current Labour Act, your contract, and whether SSF already covers the benefit. This is not a court computation.

Frequently Asked Questions

Nepal Labor Act 2074 style: estimated gratuity = monthly basic × years of service (described as ≈ 8.33% of basic accrued each month, i.e. one month per year). Alternative 15/26 rule: (monthly basic ÷ 26) × 15 × years — a common Payment-of-Gratuity-style thumb rule, not a Nepal gazette reprint.
Monthly basic as named in the terminal-benefit policy. Allowances often excluded unless the contract says otherwise. Ask HR which figure they use.
Sometimes statute and contributions interact. Do not double-count. Read current labour guidance and your enrolment.
The form allows from 0.5 years for arithmetic. Legal eligibility (often longer) is not enforced here.
1/12 of annual basic ≈ 8.33% per month × 12 months = 1 month per year — the Labor Act 2074 style comment in the handler. Courts and contracts can still differ.
Nepal method: basic × 0.0833. 15/26 method: (basic/26)×15 / 12. Useful for costing, not a payslip line unless HR books it.
Not coded. Statutory caps, if any, must be applied outside this estimate.
Default is nepal_labor_act. Switch to 15/26 only if your policy uses that formula (common in some foreign-parent handbooks).
Same arithmetic. Grounds of exit and forfeiture rules are legal, not in this engine.
No. It is an estimate. Inspectors and courts use the Act and evidence.
